Ray Motes and his son Lance combined have over 70 years of auto industry experience and have forgotten more about about vehicles than most people will ever know. Lance has 25 years under his belt as a GM Parts Manager. Ray, aside, from being a NHRA, AHRA, and ADRA world drag racing champion in dragsters and funny cars, recently retired from a long and successful career running the Taylor Cable Products company that manufactured and sold high performance plug wires.

It had been a long standing dream for Lance to go into business for himself, so Ray and Lance spent a year looking for the right opportunity and when it presented itself, both he and his father jumped on it.

A noble effort that helped jump start Auto Worlds existence. It was a long road traveled before opening their doors for the first time on March 1, 2010 filled with many roadblocks that an up-and-coming company might encounter. Finances and insurance, among other things, were only the beginning.

"We didn't want a place that we had to apologize for," Ray said. "We wanted the best location we could get and the best equipment."

Located at 7246 W. 75th Street, just west of the booming 75th and Metcalf intersection, in Overland Park, Kansas. The 8,800 square-foot-building houses a full-service Automotive Center with state of the art diagnostic equipment that is capable of handling routine maintenance such as an oil change or a professional job like fabrication for a hotrod.
